Make up artists I am loving

Today I am doing a quick round-up of some of my favourite make artists.

Some I have been following for a long time and others are more recent. Instagram is my main social media platform for checking these guys out and I often check in on their websites or YouTube channels.

Let me know if you follow and love any as much as I do.

Wayne Goss:
I’ve done a post like this before and Wayne is always top of the list. I love him. He is honest, engaging, informative and a truly amazing make up artist. There is no more to say. Check him out.

Ciara Allen:
I have been following Ciara for a good while now on Instagram. She’s a breath of fresh air. Again a fabulous artist with beautiful looks. She has a brill attitude and seems really sound. She also has a love for hoop earrings like myself. The final thing I will add is that if you follow her insta stories she seems very supportive to people in the industry.

Jeanette Cronin:
I started watching Jeanette’s Youtube videos a year ago and she’s so good. She is talented and pretty amazing when it comes to full on glamour make up looks. She has just opened her own make up studio in cork and I can only imagine it to be all types of fabulous. I’ve booked in to do some one to one training with her in June to perfect some glam looks and I cannot wait.

Sharon Farrell:
Sharon has been one of my absolute favourites for a long time now and has been on my list of artists before. She’s an Irish make up artist living in Sydney and again seems like a seriously lovely person. Her make up looks are gorgeous. She give very honest reviews and her videos are a lot of fun.

Note Cosmetic review

I was at a Note masterclass with Just Jordan a few weeks ago and took advantage and purchased some pieces to try. Lisa went through some of her favourites and did a demo on the day.

First up, it is a great price point. You can’t go wrong and it is so worth a try.
Here is what I bought on the day and here’s my verdict on each piece.

Ultra rich colour lip pencil – sandy 01:
This is a gorgeous nude and teams really well with any nude lipstick. I have worn it everyday since buying and it is a favourite of mine. I will be trying more and would happily have these in my make up kit for customers.

Matte moist lipgloss- 401

This feels great on the lips and sets pretty quickly. It’s not dehydrating like a lot of matte lipsticks out there. I adore the colour. It’s a nude with a hint of mauve and goes with everything. I’m looking forward to trying some brighter colours from the range for the summer months

BB Natural colour lip Corrector- No 2

I have been using this as a gloss and a general lip hydrator. It’s a good one for the handbag and feels gorgeous on the lips. It has a great applicator also

Luminous silk compact blusher- pink beach 01

This is a beautiful pinky / coral blusher. It sets very well on the skin and gives just enough colour to the cheeks. Of all the products,I will be very excited to pick up more of these.

Luminous moisturising foundation Spf 15- apricot 07

I’m having a bit of a love hate relationship with this foundation. One day it’s the best and the next I’m not feeling it. First off, I think I need a different shade. Secondly, it’s not as hydrating as I thought it would be. I have dry skin and need a very hydrating moisturiser. I find on certain days this sits in my lines and highlights my wrinkles. I’m also getting older so it could just be me! The coverage is great. It’s thick and buildable so you can get a very good coverage. The verdict is out on this one but I will try it again at some point. Others I know that have used it love it.

all products on my face

These products are available in CH chemist tralee and Sam McCauleys and are must try if you are looking for affordable products with good colour payoff. A thumbs up from me for sure. I paid under €30 for the above products (excluding the lip corrector as that was in a goodie bag).
Have a great Sunday night

February wish list

My wish list this month is small and all of the pieces are from River island. I’m loving the  bright colours and got a bit excited when I saw some of the stock. I have had a little make up overload recently so it’s all shoes and clothes this month!

love the print €45 (I think!)
I love the style of this skirt. It would be so easy to wear and you can pop sandals or summer runners underneath when the weather warms up ! ( ever the optimist )
adore €40
This won’t be everyone cup of tea but there is a granny that lives in me. I love them and could imagine them under a line or maxi skirts, or stream lined trousers .
❤️❤️❤️ €30
These will be mine! Look how fun they are! I would never be in a bad mood if I had multi coloured fluff on my feet.

It is currently lashing rain outside so these will all have to wait for a while!

Undergarment essentials

What a few weeks. The Christmas rush is over and now it is back to reality.
Here are some essentials that got me through the party season. And I am not talking make up or skincare today…. It’s all about the underwear.

Perfection Fashion tape:

available from Debenhams

I carry this in my make up kit, along with other emergency essentials and it came in handy this Xmas for some tops. One quick strip of this can be a life saver in revealing tops. I got mine in Debenhams for around €7.50

very impressed

I ordered these in early November for a top I had purchased in Zara (same one that required the tape) They are so easy to put on and keep everything in place and help keep everything up! You can order from the Perkys website and I paid €9.99. Too pairs are in the pack. I worse the top without the perkys also a different night and will never go back to not having them again! You can order yours here :

Strapless bras:

I am a fan of backless tops and dresses and needed one for a dress. I have used the Penneys range that are €6 in the past. They do the job but I found the stick didn’t last aswell as other brands. I purchased a pair from Debenhamas called Eve’s. They were good but I did have to adjust a few times after dancing. You can pick these up for €15.

Cocoa brown Instant tan bronzing gel:

Ok, I had to throw one product into the mix. You know my main tan is one hour cocoa brown tan but amazingly I had never used the gel version. Love it. It is easy to apply and great when you are in a rush and need a quick fix. This was €6.99ish from Sam Mc Cauleys.

2016 favourites round up

My last post for 2016 will be a list of some of my favourite finds over the last 12 months. These are the items I have gone back to and repurchased throughout the year.

MAC strobe cream:

I often apply it as part of my make up routine. Put this over make up on the cheekbones and high points for some highlight or use under foundation for a natural glow.

Primark Matte lipstick in nude:
I have been using the nude shade for 5 months and it is always in my handbag. I am so impressed with the whole PS range.

MAC Neutral palette:

This may have been on last years list too! It’s very very handy to have and a must if you are a make up artist. The colours complement each other and has a beautiful selection of coppers, browns, pinks and neutrals. The price point is pretty awesome too.

Maybelline Master precise liquid liner:

This takes the stress out of liner for me. It is easy to use and smudge proof. This has been repurchased a lot theoughout the year!

Violet Voss champagne kisses glitter:

This is my go to glitter if I want to add a bit of glam to a look. It’s subtle and the glitter is small so not too over the top.

Ardell Demi Wispies:
I used to shy away from false lashes until I tried these. I love the fluttery appearance they give and so easy to apply.

MAC Studio Fix powder:

I don’t know what I did before this. It’s so handy on a night out to pop in your handbag and make up does not move with this on.

Urban Decay All nighters setting spray:
It’s very simple. Everyone needs this! It works and it’s amazing. Spray after makeup application and you are sorted. I love the smaller size that available also.

Essence bronzer/ contouring set:

I was gifted this during the year and for a drug store bronzer it really is lovely. It’s what I use everyday and perfect as an eyeshadow too.

Fuschia eye shimmers:

These are great for adding more dimension to a look. Mix with the sealer from the range for a more intense look or wear on its own. These are perfect for Xmas.

So these have been my 2016 make up favourites and no doubt they will continue to be my go to products for 2017.

Thanks for reading and have a super New Year.

Current favourites

I haven’t done a favourites for a little while and have a few goodies for you all.

Primark nails:

You will have seen from my Instagram over the past month I have been using these glue on nails for weddings. I love the look of stellito nails but they are not practical as a beauty or massage therapist. I feel so elegant when I have them on and I adore the nude colour. They last very well and no issues with them falling off. An absolute steal for €1.50.

MAC eye brow pencil:

I’m all about the pomade but I love the softer look that this pencil gives. I have been using it more to try it out and it’s a fab product. If you like brow pencils give this a go. I think they retails for €18 and there are plenty of shades to pick from.

Violet voss glitter:
Again you will have seen these on my Instagram but these glitters are life! A tiny bit goes a serious long way and just adds a touch of fun and glamour to a simple eye. My favourite is champagne kisses. Available from Beautybay and are around €8.20

Eyebrow pencils vs pomades

Eyebrows are big, thick and bold and choosing a product can be mind boggling! The bold look may not be everyone’s cup of tea so which is best: pencil vs pomade?

So what’s the difference?

Pencils will give a more natural look. Pomades can be used to give more definition and create a fuller brow. It totally comes down to preference and what look you like. I love a pomade but sometimes just apply a quick flick of a pencil or even an eye shadow for a soft look.

Today I’m showing you some pictures with no brows filled in and showing you the difference with some products I have been trying.

MAC pencil:
I recently purchased a MAC brow pencil. I got the shade Lingering which was for my kit and I wanted it for dark blondes/ medium Browns. This, I feel, would be too dark for blondes.I tried it on my own brows which are pretty dark and I nearly get away with it! I would probably need a shade darker but I like the texture and feel. You can use this to fill in sparse areas or do little strokes. This is €18 and I picked it up from Brown Thomas

NYX tame and frame:

I haven’t used this as much as the others but it is a smudge proof pomade. It can be used very lightly or apply heavier to give a stronger brow. You need to work quickly and it dries fast and a little goes a long way. I have the chocolate shade but it is available in 5 colours. Again this is a touch too light for me and didn’t fill in my gap as well as others. I will repurchase in a darker shade and can’t wait to try a few lighter ones on the right people. It’s a good product for 7.99 and I got mine at Cara pharmacy in Galway but it’s also available in Boots.

Anastasia Beverly Hills dip brow pomade:

Yes that is me kissing my pomade 😂 I love it so so much. Here I am wearing the dark brown. It fills all areas, a smidge is all you need and it blends so well. The winner for me. This is a creamy formula and stays put for the day giving a very defined brow. It is available in 11 shades and you can get yours for 17.80 on

Me with no eye product on except my brows. No filters used
My brows are dark naturally and I have one annoying gap on my right brow that needs filling. Always always use a spooly brush and brush product through to make it more natural.
Which do you think looks the best?
